Founded in 1903, the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) is a charity dedicated to bringing high-quality, professional education into the heart of communities. With the support of nearly 2,000 volunteers, 2,000 tutors and over 5,200 members, we deliver friendly, accessible and enjoyable courses for adults from all walks of life.
Product or Service
We also have a special mission to raise aspirations and develop educational opportunities for the most disadvantaged. This includes providing basic maths, English and IT skills for employment; courses to improve health and wellbeing; creative programmes to broaden horizons and community engagement activities that encourage active citizenship.

The WEA is committed to reducing barriers that deter people from accessing education- this could be cost, timings, location of campuses, and psychological barriers- with a view to people having the maximum opportunity to achieve their potential.
We also work towards community cohesion by working alongside third sector partners to target specific need, and we offer programmes which work towards reducing social isolation
Operating In
We are UK wide, but locally cover the whole of Northamptonshire. Currently running large programmes in Northampton and Kettering, but also have programmes in villages such as Weston and Yelvertoft.
