Hope Centre Enterprises
Profile

Hope Enterprises Community Interest Company or CiC, offers training and work opportunities in a range of small businesses, to people affected by homelessness, drugs, alcohol, poverty, mental health and other disadvantage.

We work within Northamptonshire in the UK. We are part of the Hope group alongside our parent Charity, the Northampton Hope Centre Charity, which has been providing help to people in acute need since 1974.

Product or Service

We run a range of businesses to provide opportunity for our clients and to raise funds, all profits from which are re-invested into the company or the parent charity. These include:

Hope Catering who provide great buffets and contract catering, alongside training people in catering.  We train people to  a career in catering. We offer starter courses which fully prepare people to  work and operate in almost any catering environment, including providing the Level 2 Food Hygiene accredited qualification. Our courses prepare people for a new career that will support them to escape poverty and other problems and be self-supporting.

We can offer courses for women only groups and young people under 24, as well as mixed age/gender courses.

Hope Tools recycles and refurbishes garden and other tools for sale, to provide learning and work experience for people who need help getting back into work, and to raise funds.

In a small, supportive work environment where people learn at their own pace, we turn broken tools into serviceable, long-lasting and beautiful products for any consumer.

Ideal for allotment gardeners, professional gardeners and leisure gardeners alike.

Hope PAT Testing provides a perfect Portable Appliance Testing service for all your office or home electrical appliances. Make sure your organisation follows Health & Safety guidelines

Hope Gardening grows essential fruit and veg for people in need.  We provide opportunities for people to get involved in growing veg - and promote veg growing.  Our projects involve urban agriculture - greening urban spaces and growing food on neglected urban land. We distribute food at community centres and hubs in Northampton as part of our food club project linked to our parent charity, Northampton Hope Centre.

We are part of West Northants Community Growers, an alliance of local people growing veg for their community.

Social or Environmental Missions

We try to improve the employability of people a long way from the job market affected by serious barriers of homelessness, poverty, low skills, low confidence, addictions, MH etc We try to generate funds for re-circulation within the community we work in – ie money spent on food.

We try to provide useful services to the community – cheap food for people in need, cheap, recycled tools to grow food We strive to have an environmental impact – reducing landfill, recycling, reducing food miles, reducing food wasteWe strive to improve health, reduce food poverty and reduce obesity.

We reduce isolation, including amongst older people We promote social enterprise as a business model – we chair the local development company
